Battle of the Bands. In the movies it is the pinnacle moment when a band comes out of nowhere to win it all and snag their place in history and on stage just like some famous names. For CMT, this is no different and bands battle it out to win a coveted spot on stage & a paid gig at the Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival.
Wednesday August 14th, 2024 is the final Bike Night and 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands by Red Barn Riders RC Bike Nights at Blackthorne Resort. And yes, the winning band gets a paid gig at the 2024 Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival!!
Last year, the Battle of the Bands and Bike Night was “EPIC”! It felt like a real concert with so many great bands and so many people coming out to enjoy the night. Everyone was thrilled to participate. Those in attendance were over the moon hearing all these great bands and the Red Barn Riders RC was happy to see so many come out for the Bike Nights Battle of the Bands at Blackthorne Resort. There were many bikers, but there were also so many locals from the area who came out to listen to all the great music.
It's called a Battle of the Bands because there can be only one winner, but all these bands are friendly with each other and many have known each other for years.
This year the bands competing for the coveted spot of playing at the 2024 Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival will be Geezer, Mixtape Revival, Delta 9, Breakout Kings, and Phantom Sleeze. The winner will be picked by impartial judges.
Let’s not forget that Bike Night will also be going on, with trophies awarded in 3 categories that will not be released until the night of the event.
Red Barn Riders RC does these Bike Nights for multiple reasons, but the 2 most important are to get to know all the local bikers and people in the area, and to raise money to continue helping those in our area.
Many have asked the Red Barn Riders RC to continue into September the Bike Nights that are held the 2nd Wednesday of June, July, and August, but September is the Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival… like just about everyone else in our area who ride, we will be partying at CMT !
But have no fear; 2025 Bike Nights are already in the works, and there are some truly awesome things being planned.
We all look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday August 14th 7pm to 10pm and as always, the Bike Night is a free event and everyone is welcome!
Thanks to Guest Blogger LJ James. LJ James has been attending the Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival at the Blackthorne Resort since 2003 +/-. His favorite part of the Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Rally is Day 1, setting up camp with his Club Brothers, meeting up with old friends and all the possibilities of next few days to look forward to. As a member of the Red Barn Riders RC (a charity, AMA , 501(c)(3) Organization), he/ they started Bike Nights at the Blackthorne ending the Season with an epic Battle of the Bands Contest. LJ James is a freelance writer, published in Motorcycle Magazines all around the World. He can be found on Facebook at Facebook.com/AmericanBikerX, with lots of cool pictures of his adventures.

Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival is open to the public, held annually in mid-September at the Blackthorne Resort nestled in the Catskill Mountains of New York.
Not only does the festival boast some of the best riding around, but we so fortunate to call so many of you our friends and family - perhaps best coined friends that are like family!
We look forward to seeing you each year and can't wait to see the stories y'all come up with as Guest Bloggers.
