Bike Games Moments 

Bike Games take on a life of their own at Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival. After a late night of bands and good times, a committed crew shows up and bike games are ON. Admittedly, the setup sometimes is not exactly early morning Saturday (can't imagine why 🙄🤣). The games usually go all day and everyone has fun, those working the games, those in the games and those watching the games.

There is a throng of spectators waiting to hear their name called for their chance at the games.

​Games like these date back, well way before we can remember. When we stopped riding horses as basic transportation, our two-wheeled riders stepped up and let the real games begin.

Slow race, ring toss, weenie bite, pushing a keg in a straight line .. winners get bragging rights and a trophy. .

Games are Fun for Everyone

Our patented Aerial Burnout cage is a must do experience. Ride up, get strapped in and have the photo opp of a lifetime as the music plays, you rise, you burnout, the crowd screams, the pyrotechnics spark and you have an experience you will never forget.

Aerial Burnouts are something else. The patented aerial burnout cage is running all Friday and Saturday night.

When you ride up your wheel is centered on a board with the Catskill Mountain Thunder logo. Your burnout literally burns through the board and you get a keepsake to take home with you. Pretty great for photo opps too!

Aerial Burnout in Action, Hammer starts us off

A weekend long competition. Bike builders from across the region show up and build an entire bike in one weekend. Come and watch them in the pavilion as they work and make sure you cast your vote for the winner.  🧡

Big Bulk Customs, the year of the trike

Bike builders from across the region show up and build an entire bike in one weekend. It's a competition, but these guys and gals work so collaboratively and have so much fun, you'd think they were all family. Well, a family that gets a long anyway 🤣. Now that we think about it, a lot of the builders are family .. in so many definitions of the word 🧡

Enter your bike in Sunday's bike show. After the bike games and the headliner Saturday night, we have an easy Sunday showing off gorgeous bikes. There's also a tattoo contest. 

Don't worry these are vendor bikes and not in the show, but the show bikes are hot! .

Ok this one is a little too big for the show, but you get the idea. 

Download your maps so you can head out on your own runs and there is one official run to be announced each year. Everyone lines up at the office and heads out for a breakfast run through the scenic Catskill Mountains, led by our own Roy Handel. It takes a village for a ride like that so Patty Handel, Dale Handel, Mikie, Dick and so many more help us navigate our way for a great ride, a bite to eat at a nice stop and then back to Blackthorne resort for more mischief.

The rides through the bar are memorable as well. 

This Ron Finch masterpiece heads out on the run. If memory serves us, that's AJ of Shovelhead behind the trike. 

An entire MX show goes on all weekend, they death defying stunts like the rest of walk. They sure make it look easy. 

Air time, wow they make it look easy.

When they do it all day, you start thinking maybe it's easy .. It's Not. Easy. not Easy .. looks are deceiving. 

Soft landing, not even sure most of us could maneuver after landing, let alone the hang time. 

Speaking of making it look easy. Catskill Mountain Thunder regularly hosts the Wall of Death, the Globe of Death, & other biker entertainers like comedians, stilt walkers and others. Entertainers for each Septembers are announced around summertime.

Wall of Death, CMT has hosted Rhett Rotten, the American Motor Drome and many others over the years. 

YOU. You are the bikers that make this festival so much fun. If we added all the pictures of ya'll having fun, we'd be here for days. Festival week is our favorite time of year. Sure it is great to see all the bands and biker entertainment, but YOU are the ones that make the week so much fun. We can't wait to see you again!!
